Abyss & Apex : Second Quarter 2006 : Kara’s jungle

Kara’s jungle

by s.c.virtes

Locked out of the jungle,
Kara chases her keys
to the riverside
where they tremble,
hide in a stump and
hiss like snakes.

She tricks them with
a clump of moss
irresistibly soft and
green; the keys
rush out to feed
… captured!

She rushes home,
strokes her keys
unlocks the trees
savors the breeze
pauses to please
the birds and the bees …

She dips her delicate nose in
the so-sweet nectar of
Home, Sweet Home.
